This is a team of amateur and/or professional graphic designers and/or artists who are more or less self inspired. They focus on free-form design using FOSS design tools.
- To represent various material in an aesthetically pleasing way
- To provide a means of wrapping materials and documents in a visually appealing form
- To generate a consistent visual appearance of various elements/materials/documents
- To represent the theme and slogan of the event in an artistic way
This is just a proposed composition of team and strict adherence to this structure may not appear.

The design process is subdivided into various stages.
This is the first step to design. The team is required to visualize and/or generate sets of concepts that adhere to these thematic areas:
- Liberation (from chains)
- Software Freedom Day (2008)
- Young Enthusiasts/Youth
This time, we're planning to develop three sets of such theme concepts.
Developing Colour Palettes
This is typically the job of Colour Composition Experts. Here in this stage we develop colour palettes specific to each theme and each design application (e.g GIMP, Inkscape) in CMYK colour mode. Setting a colour profile (ICC) would be even great.
Design of Theme Elements
This stage inculcates the design/gathering of distinguishable design elements for each themes. They can be certain graphic elements, curves, anchors, borders, background etc. The design process must strictly follow the specified colour palette intended to be used specific to that theme set. There are a lot of elements already available freely on a free license on websites like
Other subsidiary material to help in design can also be developed and/or downloaded for free from these websites. These elements may be:
- Colour Palettes
- Symbols, etc.
Developing Design Prototypes
This stage involves putting the theme/design elements developed in the previous step together to form different design prototypes like:
- Flex Banners
- Invitation Cards
- CD/DVD Covers
- Event Website Themes
- Slide Templates
- Document Templates
- GDM Themes
- Many more
...add more to your choice of applications
The use of Portable Network Graphics (*.png) for raster images and Scalable Vector Graphics (*.svg or *.svgz) for vector images is encouraged. The major design elements needs to be vector. Focus is given of lossless file formats (e.g JPEG vs. PNG, where JPEG is a lossy format and PNG is not).
The resolutions of the output (and hence the input document) should be in high resolution 300 dpi. Special care should be taken while scaling (enlarging and/or reducing) raster images. For vector images, after all the design efforts has been finalized for a prototype all the text and non-standard elements should be converted to path.

Press Release Template
The press release template is designed in OpenOffice.Org Writer 2.4. It uses the tango colour palette. The fonts used in the template are Liberation Serif and Nafees. The source of the press release template can be downloaded from this link

This is just the background for approval. The three triangles at the top left corner symbolizes "share, create and collaborate" theme. The triangles are interlocked with a single flowing border to represent "share", "create" and "collaborate" working together.
